A LETTER FROM FOUNDER – HOW CDC TECHNOLOGIES STARTED
In October of 1997, I was on the doorstep of achieving my goal of starting my own endeavor, which eventually was called CDC Technologies. The stars aligned the day after I left my previous employer and found an event hosted by the design software I had been using for years. I attended and immediately caught the entrepreneur bug and knew that I needed to find a way to start my own company. Luckily, I was able to lease the software I needed to get started. I was officially in business as CDC Technologies inc.; all I needed was one customer.
Everyday from the moment CDC was established, I reached out to prospects with a traditional lead generation strategy of phone calls and emails. Soon after I was approached by one of the biggest customers I had served in my past career and l seized the opportunity, selling the idea that I had everything to complete their designs in an efficient timeframe.
First, I set up shop in my kids playroom and got to work on my first big contract as a solo-preneur. News soon got out that I was taking on new projects and I was welcomed into the industry with excited new customers that were happy to have a trusted, competent designer that they could rely on. As my client list grew, I began the process of purchasing versus leasing software which allowed me to take on more complex circuit board designs to service a broader range of customers.
In 2001, we were established and our name became CDC Technologies, Inc. We now have several customers from the federal government to fortune 500 companies and have successfully become the premier supplier for quality design services.
We continue to grow and learn the expertise needed to bring superior consulting and design services to our valued customers. The insight my team and I have gained throughout our company’s lifetime has created lasting customers and partnerships.
